Uncharted 2 cleans up (in awards not in kitchen)

In the recent E3 2009 game critics awards there were many varied new games jousting for a number one spot and a possible gong award for the different criteria. However one game that surprised many and scooped three awards was the upcoming Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

It was voted the Best Console Game and the Best Action/Adventure Game and was only rivaled by the DS puzzle game Scribblenauts which got the awards for Best Original Game and Best Handheld Game. The developers at Naughty Dog were unsurprisingly described as satisfied with the result – I’d be doing handstands on the stage but that’s me.

In case you are wondering how some other excellent games missed out on an award, the reason is that the rules of the 2009 Game Critics Awards state that the game has to be playable at the show. Still it was a surprise result for many.
