Remember Jack Thompson? The lawyer who dedicated a huge part of his life to a one-man crusade against the gaming industry? Not ringing any bells? Ok, how about the guy who got his licence revoked for wasting the court's time? The guy who received a lifetime ban from practicing law? Yeah, him.
Well we had all hoped by now that Jack Thompson would have faded into the obscurity of history, but it seems there are always platforms from which the obsessed can spout their thoughts, even if they are not based on things like proof and commonsense.
The latest pulpit offered to the disgraced Mr Thompson comes in the form of a US TV show hosted by American magicians Penn and Teller, called Bullshit. As part of this show, Thompson is heard saying that computer games are the worst thing to hit children since polio, and other such rantings.
well, in fairness, I'm not aware that Jack Thompson has ever spoken out against child abuse. He says giving them games is bad, and he's obviously against polio, but I don't know where he stands on branding kids or keeping them in dungeons.
Worst thing since Polio. Hmmmmm so drugs, child abuse and child slavery are ok then? Hmmmmmmmm, want to get things straight there jack.
