Paramount enters games market
From Casualgaming.biz:
Hollywood studio Paramount has unveiled the first step in its games publishing strategy, revealing that it has signed up casual games firm Legacy to make games based on a number of its classic romantic comedies.
Clueless, Mean Girls and Pretty in Pink are the movies getting the first games treatment.
In the announced descriptions of the games, all sound like sim-style experiences which follow the plots of the movies, but 'with a twist' - the players get to determine the outcomes and make sure the girl gets the guy or overcomes school cliques.
"Paramount is focused on creating quality interactive entertainment based on evergreen motion pictures. With these games, we will not only reach the core casual games audience, but engage new audiences with our properties," said Sandi Isaacs, SVP of Interactive & Mobile at Paramount Digital Entertainment.
"We are confident that our collaboration with Legacy Interactive will be a great success."
"Legacy Interactive's vision for these fan favorite films is one that seamlessly takes each story into the gaming world," added Ariella Lehrer, president and CEO of Legacy Interactive.
"Our goal in collaborating with Paramount Digital Entertainment is to create games that longtime fans of the films will appreciate, but also games that challenge and entertain the casual gamer."
According to Variety, the games will initially release on PC as download and boxed product, and will arrive on DS later this year.
The magazine reports that Legacy will publish the titles in the US, whilst Paramount will handle that duty in other global territories
