360 Elite problems? Yes.

The past fortnight hasseen Microsoft come out defending itself against claims in the UK tabloid The Mirror that the Elite is failing. The Mirror was incorrect, stating facts that were over a year old, back when MS increased the warranty to three years. However, this weekend has me wondering.

I bought an Elite because my poor little white 360 was on its way to console heaven. Playing Alone in the Dark, I hit the guide button to bring up the Gamer profile blade, except it came out half way and froze. The power button woulnd't work so I can to shut it down at the mains. When I turned it on again, it had the RRoD. I managed to not smash it to pieces in bliund rage and went and had a cup fo tea. When I returned, it was working, except now I was getting lots of screen tear and processor lag in Alone in the Dark and Battlefield: Bad Company.

The good thing is the chick in EB Games was great when I called, and I'm off now to get a replacement. We'll see how it works.

I'm still using the one that had the profile but got a migration cable from Microsoft to write over the old profile by moving my 20Gb info onto the 120Gb. Works fine, but might still replace it. EB offered to.

Of course if you log in to that profile and create online hassle, the original gamertag owner could be in for quite a windfall from EB.

Update: Got my new Elite from EB Games and took it home, only to see some other jackass' profile on the hard drive. So I got a returned console as a replacement, when it should have been new? I'm going to crack heads in there tomorrow.
