No Middle East release for Dante's Inferno
The new title Dante’s Inferno from Electronic Arts will not be released in the Middle East. The reasons for this are a little unclear but it is reported that EA did not bother to submit the game to censors in the various countries throughout the Middle East because they had little or no faith in the titles getting a green light for a release.
The game (review to appear on HellBored tomorrow) which focuses on the nine circles of hell would be destined for banning, according to the people at Electronic Arts. They simply had to look at the regions history of dealing with games with a violent or religious tone to it. In the past games such as Darksiders, God of War and Grand Theft Auto IV have all been banned because of their content.
In a statement EA said: “Electronic Arts has decided not to release Dante’s Inferno in the Middle East after an evaluation process which is based on consumer tastes, preferences, platform mix and other factors.”
