The first episode of The Tester will be available to download on the Playstation Network from February 18. The show features a Big Brother-esque scenario (that of enforced isolation, reality manipulation and a steady breakdown of contestant's emotional defences) with an American Idol-esque payoff at the end (a job! Only in this case it's not that of Pop Idol, but of Games Tester). The clear point of difference from reality being that this show features a mob of obnoxious, overweight, self-absorbed losers trying to defeat each other in repetitive, meaningless challenges for no good reason, which sounds nothing like the gamers I know.
One thing they do have so right, however: Clearly none of them have any idea what the job of Games Tester actually entails, because (very much like the real world) if any of them did, they wouldn't bother applying.
